The Torture of Reading

26 letters ordered and reordered

written in pages, bordered

All it is, Paper words

Flying, wingless birds

Black ink on white paper

old libraries, and perfumed vapor

Row on row, Shelf by shelves

The secrets of Author’s true selves

And yet, your own character is revealed

And problems set aside, but never healed

Lose yourself in what you cannot be

lose yourself in places you’ll never see

become attached to a figment of imagination

a fantasy of some persons creation

Adventures you could never discover

mysteries, by yourself, you could not uncover

This is all I wish to be, to do

hide in a mystery of where and who

Fall in love with a hero or a villain

cry when it’s over, then do it again.
